As food critics we attempt to capture the dining experience and relate that experience to readers, viewers or listeners. Our commentary includes descriptions of the food, including whether the food was cooked thoroughly and attractively presented, and, of course, whether it tastes good. They also frequently comment about service staff, for instance, whether waiters rush diners through their food. We may also comment about the ambiance of a restaurant -- whether the atmosphere contributed to diners enjoying their meals. Serving size and price are also frequently included in our reviews. Rants and Raves does have a rating system of 1-5 Golden Forks in which we rate each restaurant!

Broad Food Knowledge

While we certainly enjoy our share of fine dining at white tablecloth establishments, we also  find ourselves chowing down at mom-and-pop family diners and even balancing our food while standing in front of a food truck. We have developed a palate for different types of food. We also have a working knowledge of food preparation vocabulary, so that we can intelligently discuss the difference between blanching and sauteing. We have an understanding of ingredients and preparation styles that are associated with varied cuisines as well.

Writing and Presentation

We eat -- a lot. However, once we're done eating, we must communicate our dining experiences to our audiences. We currently work for Jack/ Lynn Magazine where our work will be published and talked about.  We also post and feature our reviews on social media to get the word our about your establishment.
